Fall Crown Tournament Saturday, November 9th 2024 Fall Crown Tournament
Saturday, November 9th 2024
1008 E 13th St, Andover, KS 67002
Part of the fun of the Society for Creative Anachronism is recreating the spectacle of royalty. Once every 6 months a tournament is held in the kingdom to decide on the next royalty of Calontir, the area comprising Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas and Missouri.. The best rattan fighters in the Kingdom gather together and participate in a grand tournament and the winner will become the prince or princess by right of arms with their consort becoming the prince or princess.
These events tend to be grand shows of ceremony and display. People will commonly wear their nicer historic clothing and bring items of heraldic display.
This is a single day event where people arrive in the morning, watch the tournament, attend afternoon court and then leave site in the late afternoon. For those who wish to learn more about the pageantry of the SCA or those who enjoy watching the fighting, this is a great event to check out.
Due to the long drive for many members of the SCA in Iowa, our friends are either likely to plan for a hotel stay or catch the next crown tournament in 6 months time.
The site opens at 9 AM and closes at 9PM with many of the attendees enjoying an evening feast and those not staying may enjoy a meal at some of the great dining options across Omaha.
There is a lunch inn as well as an evening feast with a limited number of seats. The cost is $15.
Cost of the event is $35 for adults and $25 for adult member. Youth 6-17 are $10 and under 5 are free.

Discover how different members participate in the Discover how different members participate in the SCA
We meet a lot of great people at our local meetings of the Society for Creative Anachronism. It is really important to make sure that you - the person exploring this Historic Adventure that is the SCA - get out at the events or meetings and talk to a variety of people who participate in the SCA. Because - there's more than one way to play in the SCA.
If the only thing we ever do is talk to the same people we first meet when we come to an SCA meeting or only talk to the people that we meet when we are checking out the first area of interest that we find in the SCA then we will never discover the wide variety of different activities that are available within our hobby.
One of the most distinguishing features of the SCA is that there are so many different activities to participate in and you should give yourself the opportunity to discover if some of these other activities interest you as well. How do you know you don’t like archery or pottery unless you give it a try someday? We don't want you to get overwhelmed but it is good to explore some of your options before you settle in to focusing on a specific activity.
Even beyond this, it is worth exploring some of the different ways that people participate in the SCA. Different members participate to different degrees with some showing up more frequently than others, with some dedicating more of their time and energy to service than others, with some dedicating more of their time and energy to research than others. With some diving more deeply into the history or persona development.
By getting out and talking to people who participate in different activities or who participate in different ways than you can discover more of the options that are open for how you will participate and what you will do. That can lead to you discovering the best balance of fun in your game.
If you would like to learn more about the different ways of people participate in the SCA talk to different members of your local group or ask us online
Searching for Where You Belong Welcome! It's gre Searching for Where You Belong
Welcome! It's great that you found us. But one of the things that many people face when they are new to the Society for Creative Anachronism is finding out where they belong once they have found us.
This phrase can have a couple different meanings. One of which is what local group they belong to. There are several online resources to help you find your local SCA group so that you can begin participating in person and start having the historic amount of fun that we enjoy. You can find resources to discover your local group at SCAIowa.org as well as Calontir.org and SCA.org .
That may in fact be the easier part of discovering where you fit in in the SCA. After you find your local group you will likely begin searching for what activities you fit into, what social groups you fit into, what arts and science activities you fit into and which of these fit into your idea of fun. The search for what parts of the SCA you enjoy as well as what parts of the SCA make you feel fulfilled can take longer, but this is a search that is worth embarking on.
If you need some assistance on finding what you fit in to the larger picture of the SCA or simply when you fit in geographically among the local SCA groups feel free to reach out to us or even ask some of your SCA friends online

Kingdom Arts and Sciences 2024 Saturday September Kingdom Arts and Sciences 2024
Saturday September 21st St Joseph MO
Kingdom Arts and Sciences is one of the two big Arts and Science based kingdom events held each year. The format is much like that of a school science fair, where entrant’s bring displays of their projects to show and talk about. These make for excellent events to check out all of the different things that people are working on around the Kingdom. Those entering a project can receive feedback and be judged on their project if they want.
Usually there is also an A&S championship competition held at this event to determine the A&S kingdom champion.
This is a single day event where people arrive in the morning, look at the displays and talk to people during the day. You can walk around and learn about what people have worked on and see if you are interested in trying it. A simple lunch is available on site. Most people attend court in the afternoon where recognitions are announced and announcements are made. People then leave site in the late afternoon and find a place for dinner.
Adult event Registration is $35, Adult Member registration is $25, Youth 6-17 is$5, Children 5 and under are free. The site opens at 8 AM and closes at 7 PM
